Two little squirrels in a tree hollow,
rules of their Mother did not want to follow.
They played with acorns, pine-cones and nuts,
tried on a few of their Mother’s hats.
They used to make a lot of mess,
splashed yellow paint on Mom’s favourite dress.
Refused to clean up before the bed time,
just wanted to play and smear wall with slime.
Mother then told them: “Listen, my boys –
you have to clean up all of the toys,
keep your room tidy and nice every day,
otherwise you won’t be allowed to play.
Also – forget about the sweets,
unless you do all the right deeds”.
Squirrels thought about it carefully,
then hugged their Mommy very gracefully.
“We’re sorry, Mommy, for being naughty,
We promise you now not to be sloppy,
and keep our room tidy and clean –
and do believe us – that’s what we mean!”.
